Hiring a transfer maid in Singapore can be a practical option for families who need a helper sooner or prefer to interview someone already in Singapore. As transfer maids have local working experience, you can better understand their skills, communication style and suitability for your household before making a decision. The transfer process can also be faster than hiring a helper from overseas, depending on her availability and the necessary approvals.
One key advantage of hiring a transfer maid in Singapore is the opportunity to meet and interview her face to face. Beyond understanding her previous work experience, you can get a better sense of her communication, personality and expectations. This gives both you and the helper a chance to ask questions openly and understand each other better before deciding if the match is right.
Understand why the helper is leaving her current employer. This can give you useful context and help you decide whether your household may be a better fit.
Ask about her actual duties, such as childcare, elderly care, cooking and household chores, and how independently she handled them.
Use the interview to assess communication and discuss your household routines, duties, off days and expectations clearly before making a decision.
Look beyond experience alone. Consider her attitude, preferences and whether her working style is likely to match your family’s needs.
